The first course run on the 16th July was a tremendous success. Although a little warm, all the chaps did a tremendous job.

This course was awesome!  I learnt a lot about the history of the tools and the timbers.  It also taught me how to work with timber without a saw which bullies the timber into doing what it wants to do.  As it was a hot day and we were not used to the work it was hard to keep going all day this is where Steve was very helpful and joined in to help us to get onto the next step so we could learn the whole process.  We learnt everything from sharpening to completing dead square sides on a box heart timber beam. I have spent time with Steve at some of the shows he demonstrates at and I came away having learnt lots more skills and knowledge of the tools and craft of hewing on Saturday. Mr. G.  Allen (Suffolk)

I attended the timber hewing course run by Steve and could honestly say that it was one of the best courses I have been on. Steve is very knowledgeable on the subject of timber hewing and makes the day really enjoyable. I would highly recommend this course to anyone that is interested in traditional woodworking. Thanks again for a great experience.
Regards Mr A Jelley (Somerset)
A very interesting, physical and enjoyable day during which l gained confidence too tackle axe hewing on my own once I have the right tools. Steve is a very good instructor he is both knowledgeable and patient. The course flowed well with the right amount of reference to safety without taking the fun out of the day.happy to recommend for anyone interested in woodcraft. Mr . G Missions (aged 60). (Kent)
